California-born actor Peter Ho and superstar Zhang Zi Yi recently
shared what appeared to be a very romantic on-screen kiss in their new
film Sophie’s Revenge, but it had just revealed that
beneath all the romance, the kiss was just very…well…smelly!
Peter Ho admits to reporters that he had wolfed down a buttload of
Peking roast duck, wrapped with onion, before he remembered he was
supposed to have a kiss. So what did he do? He forced-fed Zhang Zi Yi
some dried squid. That way, they can both have bad breath and he
wouldn’t feel as bad!
In any case, filming for Sophie’s Revenge, a comedy produced by mainland
China, has just wrapped up. Look forward to watching it on the big
screens!

Popular Taiwanese singer and rapper Jay Chou (周杰倫) is once again turning his musical talents to the TV screen with his new science fiction drama, Panda Hero (熊貓俠). The original man himself will be producing, directing, and starring in this 20 episode drama, which apparently has already been given the green light and will begin filming at the end of this month. The drama is reported to center around two main characters based off of pandas Tuantuan(團團) and Yuanyuan (員員), currently residing at the Muzha Zoo in Taipei (木柵動物園). The two pandas become fighters for justice, committing acts of heroism, saving the world, and promoting peace and goodwill. (Or something like that.) Besides Jay Chou playing a main role of his own, he will also be featuring members of Taiwanese rock band Nan Quan Mama (南拳媽媽). Currently, Jay Chou is searching for the perfect female heroine to play his counterpart; he says he is looking for someone who is not that famous, but someone who is talented and yet can be molded to fit the part, regardless of whether or not they are currently in the entertainment circle. The rumored lead at this point is Jiang Yu Cheng (江語晨), whose name has come up in many tabloids next to Jay Chou’s.
All this aside, would you really watch a drama called Panda Hero? I’ve even seen it on some news sites as Panda Man (熊貓人). I really hope Jay Chou knows what he’s doing. To be honest, I have yet to watch his film, Secret (不能說的秘密), although the soundtrack is quite good. Speaking of which, I hear that Jay Chou is in talks to produce a sequel, Secret 2…

The other day J and I were talking, and she told me we should start a gossip blog. What kind of gossip blog? I asked her. DUH, she said. A TAIWANESE gossip blog. And so here we are, ready to fulfill all of your Taiwanese celebrity news needs. Be it secret hook-ups, this season’s new drama line-up, or even plastic surgery rumors, we are here for you.
Of course, the first step to having a gossip blog is to name your gossip blog. In fact, sometimes naming the blog might take even longer than writing up your first blog post. In the end, all I can say is this: if your favorite flavor of boba is taro, and your favorite type of bun is taro, and when you say taro in Taiwanese it’s almost the same sound as the one you made when Jay Chou (周杰倫) and Patty Hou (侯佩岑) broke up, your blog might as well be named taro.
So. Welcome to TaroSTAR.
